BRIGHTON DYSLEXIA SPECIALIST
KAREN TRICE
Brighton Dyslexia Specialist
I’m Karen, a specialist Reading Recovery teacher and assessor of dyslexia. I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1993 and have since worked with children and young people between the ages of 4-16. I have always had a passion for inspiring a love of reading and writing. I have worked in schools as a class teacher, Inclusion Coordinator, special needs teacher, English lead and accredited Reading Recovery teacher.
I have a wealth of experience in assessment and providing individualised support to children who are struggling with literacy. I am calm, patient and always get to know each child as an individual. I draw upon the child’s interests, experiences and strengths to help them to develop their independence and love of learning.
I am a Specialist Teacher and Assessor for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). I qualified as a specialist teacher with the British Dyslexia Association and gained my current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) with The Dyslexia Guild. The APC is a recognised standard for specialist teachers and assessors and ensures that full diagnostic dyslexia assessments and reports are in accordance with the requirements set by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC).
